Gabigol rested by Santos for derby, misses Guarani with tendinitis | OneFootball

Gabigol will miss Santos’ third-round Campeonato Paulista match at Guarani on Sunday at 20h30 (Brasília time) as he is managed for tendinitis ahead of Thursday’s derby with Corinthians at 19h30, at Vila Belmiro.

According to Globo.com, the forward did not travel to Campinas for the game at Brinco de Ouro da Princesa, and Thaciano is expected to lead the line.

The issue had already limited his minutes in midweek against Palmeiras, when he started on the bench in Barueri and came on only after the interval.

A short pre-season has also contributed to him not yet being at peak condition, with the club preparing him for the meeting with their arch-rivals.

A likely Santos XI for Sunday lists Gabriel Brazão in goal, with Igor Vinicius, Adonis Frías, Zé Ivaldo and Escobar in defence, Vinicius Lira an alternative. Willian Arão, Zé Rafael, with Gabriel Menino an alternative, and Rollheiser in midfield, with Barreal, Thaciano and Lautaro Díaz in attack.
