Gabri Veiga ended a lengthy barren run by opening the scoring against Moreirense, adding goals to his team-leading assist output for Porto.
According to O Jogo, only Samu carries greater responsibility for attacking production than the midfielder.
Veiga sits top of Porto’s assist charts with nine. His strike against Moreirense snapped an 18-game wait since he last found the net in the Taça da Liga defeat to Vitória.
Earlier in the campaign he delivered braces against Rio Ave and Nice, shining on both occasions. Against the French side he scored the fastest European goal ever recorded at the Dragão.
Onésimo Sánchez, his former coach at Celta B, has highlighted Veiga’s runs into the box and his versatility, and insisted he only needs the right context for his talent to show.
