Santos beat Noroeste. According to Globo.com, Gabriel Bontempo and Rony were the standouts, with Escobar also impressing.
Escobar opened the scoring with a deflected finish after a Miguelito assist. Rony netted his first Santos goal from Igor Vinícius's cross, created by Bontempo's pass.
Noroeste scored from a corner. Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão made at least two important saves, though he might have come off his line for the goal.
Zé Ivaldo had a steady game and won the foul that led to an opponent’s red card, while Luan Peres struggled in aerial duels. Igor Vinícius was booked and is suspended for the Velo Clube match.
João Schmidt underwhelmed. Barreal was at fault on the Noroeste goal and departed before the break with pain. Rollheiser mixed bright moments with spells on the fringes.
Miguelito impressed more centrally but had less impact when shifted left. Thaciano saw little of the ball. Gabriel was repeatedly offside and had a goal ruled out.
Lautaro Díaz struggled in duels, and late substitutes Vini Lira and Nadson had too little time to influence. Coach Juan Vojvoda set up a more constructive midfield, yet aerial frailties persist.
