Santos goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão is intensifying physiotherapy after surgery on his left shoulder and is not expected to play again this season.

According to Globo.com, his rehabilitation is being overseen by physiotherapist Augusto Bahiense, who has worked with him for years, including during his spell at Inter Milan.

Brazão posted a gym photo alongside Bahiense on social media, marking the first physio session of his day.

He underwent the operation on 21 September in Belo Horizonte, performed by Cruzeiro’s head of medical department, Dr Sergio Campolina, at the club where he was developed as a player.

The goalkeeper had been feeling pain in his left shoulder, which worsened after the Copa Sudamericana match against Atlético-MG in Belo Horizonte last Wednesday.

He began treatment at Arena MRV, but the pain persisted, so the surgery was brought forward from the end of the season. The plan is for him to recover without pressure to reclaim the starting spot, with a view to being fully fit next season.
