Gabriel Gudmundsson says the injury that forced him off against Liverpool felt like a hamstring and is on his other leg, not a recurrence of last season’s problem. Further tests are planned at Thorp Arch after Leeds’ return from the US tour.

The left-back was withdrawn on 36 minutes of Sunday’s 4-2 friendly win in Chicago after going down holding the back of his leg. He walked off but looked in discomfort.

Asked if it was the same leg, he said: “No, the other one”. Asked whether it concerned the muscle at the back of the thigh, he said: “Yes, it felt like that.” He told Sportbladet.

“It was a little feeling, so we'll see. I don't want to go into it, I don't have an answer for that now. We'll see. I don't know. We'll see what the result is.”

He missed the final four games of last season after injuring a hamstring at Wembley against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Leeds host RB Leipzig on Saturday, then face Manchester United at Croke Park the following Wednesday, before Augsburg visit on Saturday, August 15 and the season starts at Nottingham Forest the weekend after.

Daniel Farke is also managing centre-back Jaka Bijol, who missed all three US friendlies with a knee knock and is expected to rejoin training soon. Ilia Gruev is still returning from an April meniscus injury, while Torino target Lucas Perri missed the last two games with an unspecified issue thought to be minor.
