Gabriel Jesus trained at Palmeiras’ Academia de Futebol while on holiday in Brazil. The club released images of the striker doing conditioning work on the pitches on Wednesday, before a training match for the squad.

"I also have to receive an offer from Palmeiras. The relationship with Palmeiras has always been very good and always will be, I have immense gratitude. My wish is to return one day and win more titles, because I have already felt what it is like to win at Palmeiras. It is still in me, a very strong desire," he told ge in April.

Despite the affection and fans’ hopes of a return, he has made clear he wants to honour his Arsenal contract, which runs until July 2027.

He remains in demand in Europe, with his name linked to Juventus and Milan in Italy, and Atletico de Madrid in Spain, before the World Cup began.

He will stay in São Paulo until shortly before Arsenal’s pre-season starts. Arsenal were crowned English champions last season, but they did not land the Champions League.
