Gabriel Jesus trained at Palmeiras’ academy on Wednesday during the international break, using the facilities to stay sharp. The Arsenal forward emerged from Palmeiras’ youth system before moving to England.
According to Globo.com, he said time off lets him enjoy family moments while maintaining his health and fitness, and that Palmeiras still feels like home with the doors always open. He added Arsenal and Palmeiras have a strong relationship and had approved his sessions at the training ground.
Jesus hit 37 goals at under-17 level in 2014, debuted in 2015, then won the Copa do Brasil that year and the 2016 Brasileirão, when he was the team’s top scorer and player of the championship. He left for Manchester City in 2016 for 32.75 million euros, a landmark sale for the club’s revamped academy.
In England since, he is now at Arsenal, where he is affectionately known as Gabby. He returned to action in December after 10 months out with a left ACL injury.
In 2026 he has four goals and one assist, averaging 120 minutes per goal involvement. He is close to becoming the Brazilian with the most Premier League goals, on 78, behind Roberto Firmino on 82.
Arsenal are due back next week for the FA Cup quarter-final at Southampton on 4 April. On 7 April they begin a tie with Sporting for a place in the Champions League semi-finals.
