Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães, 28, is in contention to start for Brazil at his first World Cup, and off the pitch he is a declared Corinthians supporter.
"He is very Corinthians, obsessed, crazy. He has Gaviões clothes, even a bath towel, and keeps them to use. Our daughter sometimes wears them and he insists she learns to like it. It basically became my team too. In future, it is his dream to be there," said Gabrielle Figueiredo, speaking to UOL’s Fala Aí - Especial Copa.
"He loves going to Neo Química Arena with his family and friends. We live far from Itaquera, so taking the metro is easier. He likes being among the Gaviões, it makes him happy. I just tell him to be careful and avoid fights, but he loves being there."
Raised at Avaí, Gabriel had limited senior experience in Brazilian football and has never played for the club he supports.
Brazil open the tournament against Morocco on Saturday 13 at 19:00, then face Haiti on 19 at 22:00, before meeting Scotland on 24 at 19:00. Magalhães is among those tipped to start in defence.
