Gabriel Martinelli has joined Al-Hilal for £60m, ending a seven-year Arsenal spell in what is a club-record sale. The 25-year-old completed a medical earlier in the week and was unveiled by the Riyadh side on Thursday.

“The way Martinelli is being treated at the moment, it really makes me feel uncomfortable,” he told Sky Sports. His treatment has reportedly caused unrest in the dressing room, with senior players disappointed by his exclusion.

His exit follows a sharp breakdown with Mikel Arteta, who told him he was no longer in his plans. The winger was left out of the Community Shield win and the league opener against Coventry City.

With 12 months left on his contract, Martinelli had rejected an approach from Galatasaray of Türkiye before agreeing the move. In a farewell post he thanked staff, team-mates, fans and his family, but conspicuously omitted Arteta.

Arsenal have moved to reshape the left flank, signing Christos Tzolis for £34m and using Eberechi Eze as cover after an unsuccessful bid for Vinicius Junior.

He departs England with 191 Premier League appearances and now links up with Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal alongside fellow new arrivals Ollie Watkins and Crysencio Summerville.
