Gabriel Martinelli to join Al-Hilal for over £55m after Arteta snub—Arsenal set new sale record | OneFootball

Al-Hilal have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Gabriel Martinelli for a fee of over £55m including add-ons.

Arsenal have authorised Martinelli to undergo a medical with the Saudi Pro League side ahead of his transfer to the Middle East.

The Brazil international had been told by Mikel Arteta that he did not feature in the club's plans for the coming campaign, and has reached personal terms with Al-Hilal on a long-term deal. Arsenal will receive around £55m including add-ons for the 25-year-old, whose contract in North London was due to expire next summer.

Marca journalistMatteo Moretto has confirmed the deal is in place, with Martinelli set to leave Arsenal after 278 appearances and 62 goals across seven seasons. His imminent exit comes on the same day that Arsenal agreed the £8.5m sale of compatriot Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona.

Martinelli is set to become Al-Hilal's latest marquee recruit of the summer, after the £60m signing of Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United. Al-Hilal are also working on a deal to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, who have accepted an offer of around £51m for the England international.

Martinelli's exit will represent a club record sale for Arsenal. The fee eclipses the £35m fee received for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's move to Liverpool in 2017.
