Arsenal could move for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford on a temporary deal following Gabriel Martinelli’s imminent departure, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.

The Brazilian is no longer in the plans of Gunners manager Mikel Arteta and is set to leave the Emirates Stadium club for Al-Hilal.

Some at Arsenal are surprised the North London club are letting Martinelli go before securing an alternative in that area.

However, it is believed that the Gunners could make a loan move for Rashford as they eye a replacement.

The Man United star spent last season on loan at Barcelona and the 28-year-old was with Aston Villa for the second half of 2024-25.

Rashford is back with the Red Devils and was involved against Hull City last weekend.

However, he could still leave before Tuesday’s transfer deadline and Arsenal could be monitoring his situation.

The England international is not currently in Man United’s starting XI but will get plenty of opportunities to impress given the number of games Michael Carrick’s side are playing this season.

It is unknown whether Arteta sees him as a starter should a deal to Arsenal work out.

Rashford had a decent season at Barca, earning a World Cup spot afterwards, and he will be desperate to nail down a starting berth this season.

He could be open to leaving for a place where that could be guaranteed, and the Gunners could make a move for him or another proven forward in the coming days.

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez remains an option for Arsenal, with his club refusing to sell him to Barca.
