Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are set to face off for the signature of AC Milan’s Christopher Nkunku, according to Fotomac.
Though he only moved to the San Siro from Chelsea last summer, Milan are seemingly open to his departure.
Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have reportedly made concrete approaches for Nkunku ahead of the winter transfer window opening on January 1.
Galatasaray, with Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi already in their ranks, seek Nkunku to enhance their attacking options further and strengthen their pursuit of another Super Lig title.
Fenerbahce, aiming to ramp up their bid for the league championship, are targeting Nkunku to add significant attacking strength that could give them an edge in this season’s title race.
Despite being the less successful of the two Turkish giants over the years, Fenerbahce are currently viewed as frontrunners to land Nkunku thanks to head coach Domenico Tedesco.
Tedesco previously coached Nkunku at RB Leipzig, where he had a career-best 27 goals and 14 assists in 38 games, winning the Bundesliga Golden Boot.
Fenerbahce are pursuing an initial loan deal with a €35 million buy obligation, a figure Milan may accept after spending €37m on Nkunku less than six months ago.
Whether Nkunku is ready to give up on his Milan career remains to be seen, but the Frenchman is not short of admirers.
He opened his Serie A account with a double against Verona in Sunday’s 3-0 win, briefly sending Max Allegri’s men top of the league before Inter Milan reclaimed first place with a 1-0 triumph over Atalanta.
