Galatasaray have lodged a formal €45 million (£38m) bid with Arsenal for Gabriel Martinelli, with the Brazilian their top target for the Champions League campaign. According to Goal.com, the Super Lig champions of Türkiye have made the 25-year-old their priority this window.
The proposal is on the table at the Emirates, leaving Arsenal to weigh up Martinelli’s long-term future. The Istanbul club view him as a marquee addition.
For Mikel Arteta, the offer poses a tactical and financial dilemma. Arsenal’s attacking mix has already shifted after Leandro Trossard joined Besiktas and Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge.
Martinelli joined from Ituano in 2019 and can operate across the front line, though he prefers the left. He has become a crowd favourite at the Emirates as he approaches his peak years.
Last season he played 53 games in all competitions, scored 11 times and supplied seven assists. He was central as Arsenal reclaimed the Premier League title for the first time since 2004 and reached the Champions League final, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain.
Since signing, he has made 278 appearances with 62 goals and 36 assists, also lifting the 2023 FA Community Shield. The figures underline his importance as Arsenal consider their response.
