Galatasaray have opened formal talks with Burnley over midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu and have submitted a loan-to-buy proposal. According to Turkish-Football.com, the champions are targeting midfield reinforcement ahead of a gruelling title defence and European commitments.

The offer is understood to be for a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer. Early discussions have met resistance due to a significant difference in valuations.

Galatasaray’s package is around €26 million, covering the loan fee and optional purchase clause. Burnley are said to favour an immediate sale, seeking about €35 million to sanction a permanent exit.

Talks continue via intermediaries, but the €9 million gap would need closing for the French midfielder to complete a switch to Istanbul.

The pursuit reflects Galatasaray’s push for profile-specific athleticism to suit a high-pressing approach. Ugochukwu, who joined Turf Moor in summer 2023 from Rennes, offers physical presence and ball-winning qualities the Istanbul club have aimed to add in transitional moments.

Immediate European football could be an attraction, while Burnley face the realities of a high-wage group on a Championship budget. A premium sale could ease pressures, if Galatasaray return with an improved structure that meets the club’s preference.
