Galatasaray have terminated the contract of midfielder Younes Belhanda after he openly criticised the quality of their pitch.
Belhanda took issue with senior club officials during a television interview this week, singling out their social media habits and poor ground conditions at the Turk Telekom Stadium.
The Süper Lig side explained this decision was taken based on “just reasons” and wished the 31-year-old well in his future endeavours.
“We are Galatasaray, the pitch should not be in this state,” he told BEIN Sports.
“Instead of being on Twitter and Instagram, the leaders should take care of the pitch. Even the pitch at the training ground is better.”
Belhanda joined Galatasaray in 2017, winning two Süper Lig titles, one Turkish Cup and one Turkish Super Cup.
