According to Sporx, Galatasaray are exploring a season-long loan for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, seeking a cost-effective midfield addition for next season.

The plan centres on a loan rather than a permanent deal, in line with the club’s focus on high-value loans with top-level experience. Head coach Okan Buruk reportedly values the Brazilian’s defensive work and physical presence.

Gomes joined Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023 for approximately €18.7 million, £16 million.

He made 30 appearances in the 2025/26 Premier League, logging more than 2,200 minutes. Galatasaray are optimistic the chance to play in Europe, as the reigning champions of Türkiye, could sway him towards Istanbul.

Wolves face a decision over his future, with Gary O’Neil planning an overhaul after a 15th place finish. Given their initial outlay, a straight loan may be less attractive than a sale to fund recruitment.

Talks are expected to intensify in the coming weeks. If a loan is agreed, Gomes would arrive aiming to secure a starting role in domestic and European fixtures.
