Galatasaray ‘to send’ loan offer for Ivanovic, critical week ahead

Takvim reports that Galatasaray are to send a loan offer with an option to buy to Benfica for Franjo Ivanovic in the coming days, with a critical week looming for the Croatia international.

Ivanovic joined Benfica about a year ago from Union St. Gilloise for €22.8 million, potentially rising to €27.8 million if objectives are met.

The move is said to be at the request of head coach Okan Buruk, with the Istanbul, Türkiye club short of a first-choice striker after Mauro Icardi’s exit.

Galatasaray have admired Ivanovic since his breakthrough in Belgium, and he is said to have welcomed the prospect of moving to RAMS Park.

Last season he made 42 appearances for Benfica in all competitions, playing 1,437 minutes, scoring nine goals and supplying two assists. He is currently valued at €15 million.
