Galatasaray ‘to target’ Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones amid contract advantage | OneFootball

Galatasaray are tracking Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as they prepare for the UEFA Champions League, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The Istanbul club have made the 25-year-old English international a priority to bring greater versatility and dynamism to a midfield that at times lacked control in high-stakes European transitions last season.

Jones is valued at around €35 million and his Anfield contract runs to 30 June 2027. Entering its final stretch next summer could weaken Liverpool’s position, which Galatasaray view as a chance to negotiate below typical Premier League premiums.

Their recruitment brief targets robust, technically sound players with elite experience who are nearing career crossroads. Jones fits as a midfielder comfortable as a number eight or dropping deeper to dictate tempo.

Tempting a local-born player away from Anfield to RAMS Park could prove difficult. However, the prospect of guaranteed Champions League minutes and a leading role in Istanbul is being used to test his resolve.
