AC Milan are taking on Atalanta this evening and following the big win against Udinese, there is at least some optimism. As highlighted by the newspapers, there are a couple of things to overcome for the Rossoneri.
First of all, Sergio Conceicao’s men have been struggling in the ‘direct clashes’ this season, i.e. against rivals as far as the standings are concerned. In fact, they have only clinched 8 points from the 13 games against teams that are in 8th place or higher, which isn’t good enough.
Secondly, while he stands at 11 goals and 11 assists this season, Rafael Leao is yet to find the back of the net in a home game in Serie A. He did really well against Udinese and the hope is that he can build on that performance tonight, with the Rossoneri expecting goals from him as well.
This was all highlighted by the front pages of the Italian newspapers this morning. Securing a win would definitely be helpful for Milan, above all to build confidence ahead of the Coppa Italia decider against Inter next week.
