Atlético has entered into a major technology partnership with Huawei, one of the world’s largest companies in the sector, headquartered in Shenzhen, China. The Club chose the Chinese giant as its provider of servers, data storage solutions, and backup systems under a five-year contract, with implementation set to begin in November. From that stage onward, Arena MRV will operate entirely with Huawei technology in its data infrastructure.
The integrator responsible for the project is SYX-AI, Huawei’s technology partner in Brazil, which will be in charge of developing the solution, implementation, and operational support.
As part of the new partnership, Atlético’s Vice President of Business, Márcio Freire, and the Club’s Technology Director, Leandro Evangelista, visited Huawei facilities in China and had the opportunity to introduce Atlético to Chinese executives.
The executives also visited Shanghai Stadium, an arena with capacity for around 80,000 people that features several solutions developed by Huawei, including cameras, connectivity, data management, and an operations center that monitors different aspects of the stadium’s operation in real time.
“They use artificial intelligence to assess what is happening with the crowd and the scenarios, everything that happens inside the stadium,” explains Atlético’s Technology Director.
The expectation is that, in the coming years, similar solutions can be incorporated into Arena MRV’s operations, expanding the use of technology, data, and artificial intelligence in the fan experience and in the management of the most technologically advanced arena in Latin America.
During the trip, Atlético’s executives also visited the Ox Horn Campus, one of Huawei’s main research and development centers, which brings together around 25,000 engineers and 108 buildings dedicated to research. They also attended Huawei Connect 2026, the company’s main corporate event of the year, focused on infrastructure and artificial intelligence solutions.
“Atlético aims to seek partnerships in China, where there is truly an abundance of technology, innovation, and, of course, investment. We took advantage of the trip to visit companies such as BYD and see firsthand what is being developed in the country,” says Vice President of Business Márcio Freire.
In addition to Arena MRV’s technological infrastructure, the partnership with Huawei may open up new possibilities for Atlético’s football operations, especially in the areas of performance analysis, data, and scouting.
“We are always keeping up to date, and Huawei is far ahead when it comes to technology. We are very pleased with this opportunity. It was a moment to get to know Huawei’s facilities, the cities, understand what they are doing, and assess how we can bring these technologies into football and Arena MRV,” Leandro Evangelista emphasizes.
