Luis García Plaza outlined the differing situations of Marcao, Fábio Cardoso and Rubén Vargas as Sevilla prepare to face Deportivo at Riazor. According to La Colina De Nervion, he addressed each case in his pre-match press conference.

On Marcao, the coach said the Brazilian centre-back remains short of full fitness and needs around two or three more weeks of training to be genuinely ready. For now, others are ahead of him, with Juan Iglesias or Iker Muñoz prioritised at centre-back if cover is needed. He could feature, but only in a limited role.

Regarding Fábio Cardoso, the Portuguese has rejoined first-team sessions after spending the summer apart, yet he is still outside the sporting plans. García Plaza said he trains with the group now the window has closed because he is a Sevilla player, but all parties understand his position. He also praised the defender’s exemplary conduct.

Rubén Vargas presents a different scenario. The Switzerland international has been sidelined since early September with external parameniscitis in his right knee. After playing on matchday one against Rayo Vallecano, he has not been available and sought a second medical opinion in Madrid.

García Plaza hopes the upcoming international break can act as a mini pre-season for Vargas. If his recovery continues to progress, the aim is for him to rejoin team training when club football resumes, while Cardoso continues to seek a solution in markets still open.
