Gary Rowett has walked into Leicester City’s PSR turmoil on day two, insisting the team must keep eyes on Stoke while specialists handle the appeal.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, both City and the Premier League have appealed the commission’s six-point sanction for a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules. The club want the deduction wiped out, while the league is seeking a tougher punishment for the late submission of financial accounts.
Rowett said the club had briefed players for clarity, but told the squad the process is out of their hands and not their concern. Speaking on Thursday, he made clear the squad should not worry about it.
He stressed the focus is preparing for Saturday, producing a better version of themselves and building on recent work. He noted positives in performances despite results, and said off-field matters would be left to experts.
Partly due to the deduction, City head into the weekend in the relegation zone. To climb out, they must beat Stoke and hope either Blackburn lose to Preston on Friday night, or West Brom fail to beat Coventry on Saturday.
