A few years ago, he was talked about as the next big thing in French football.
But at just 20 years old, Mathys Tel still has his hopes up and running, having already made 83 appearances for Bayern Munich and played in the Premier League.
He’s the man at the top of Gian Piero Gasperini’s list to expand the threat on the left that Lookman had provided in Bergamo, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Tottenham winger (who can roam across the entire attacking line) is unhappy in London, partly due to his exclusion from the Champions League squad following the arrival of former Juventus player Kolo Muani.
And this season, Tel has played sparingly: just eight appearances, only three from the start.
But he’s also scored two goals, including the crucial one against Manchester United ten days ago.
Tottenham bought him in the summer for €35 million and have no intention of selling him permanently for now, but a loan deal in January could be the best solution for all parties involved.
Roma really like him for his technical characteristics and Gasp would know how to make the most of the player’s speed and timing of insertions.
