A day of celebration for Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma.
With tonight’s victory against Lecce, the Giallorossi coach reached a historic milestone, earning 1,000 points in Serie A.
The three points earned tonight are the 998th, 999th, and 1,000th of his career in the Italian top flight.
Of these, 36 points came under his guidance at Roma this season.
Gasperini made his Serie A debut as Genoa coach in the 2007-2008 season.
Since then, he has been a constant presence in the league, with some brief interruptions between 2010 and 2012.
His career has also seen him coach teams such as Inter, Palermo, and Atalanta, with the latter allowing him to earn an impressive 623 points in nine seasons.
With this achievement, Gasperini enters the history of the Italian top flight as the sixth coach to reach 1,000 points. In the list of great Serie A coaches, Gasperini joins legendary names such as Giovanni Trapattoni (1,266 points), Nereo Rocco (1,159 points), and Niels Liedholm (1,037 points).
The last two are his colleagues this season, Massimiliano Allegri and Luciano Spalletti. The coach is now seeking to lead Roma to the pinnacle of Italian and international football.
