Gaviões da Fiel, Corinthians’ largest organised supporters’ group, welcomed the expulsion of former president Augusto Melo from the club’s membership and said it will keep a close watch on the current hierarchy under Osmar Stabile.
According to Meu Timao, the Deliberative Council voted on Monday to remove Melo, with 147 of the 156 councillors present backing the motion.
In its statement, the supporters’ group framed the move within a week in which three former presidents left the association, arguing this reflects years of flawed leadership, omissions and a deepening financial crisis.
It referenced the previous Monday’s expulsion of Andrés Sanchez by councillors, and ex-president Duilio Monteiro Alves’s decision days later to renounce his member title at Parque São Jorge.
Gaviões said accountability should not stop at one individual, and should reach all directors who, in its view, acted for personal gain over the club’s interests. It listed as unacceptable behaviours lying to fans, using Corinthians for personal political aims and endangering club assets.
The group added it will monitor president Osmar Stabile, councillors and directors, demanding transparency, responsibility and a firm commitment to financial recovery, and signalled that further mismanagement will not be tolerated.
