Juventus are not the only Serie A side interested in picking up a deal for Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar in January, as Napoli are also considering making an offer for the former Inter centre-back according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is no secret that Juventus are looking for reinforcements for their backline after the season-ending injuries to Bremer and Juan Cabal, but Tuesday’s reports suggest that Napoli are also looking to strengthen their defensive unit.
As Skriniar has been restricted to just five Ligue 1 appearances this season, and given the fact that he already has plenty of Serie A experience, he has become one of the most enticing options for Juventus ahead of the January transfer window.
However, Napoli also have the benefit of Antonio Conte, who worked directly with Skriniar during their time together at Inter, which culminated in a Scudetto win in 2020-21.
According to Tuesday’s report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli would be interested in offering a loan deal with an option to buy at a later date.
La Gazzetta suggest that Napoli would be more likely to be able to afford to buy Skriniar permanently if they go on to win the Serie A title this season. Conte and his team currently sit at the top of the table, albeit with a one-point advantage over Atalanta and four over Inter, who also have a game in hand.
