Luka Jovic is still struggling with back pain and could miss the game between AC Milan and Genoa, according to a report. The next few days will be decisive for his potential recovery.
Following his brace against Inter, Jovic was named in the starting eleven for Venezia-Milan and looked to continue the positive form. However, after experiencing back pain during the warm-up, the striker had to throw in the towel and Sergio Conceicao fielded Tammy Abraham instead.
A serious injury was ruled out by tests at the start of the week, but as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport today (see photo below), Jovic is still experiencing pain. He won’t be present during today’s training session, with the team set to begin preparation for Genoa after two days off.
The No.9 was at Milanello yesterday for treatment and he will continue with his individual program in the next couple of days. The best-case scenario is to have him back at the weekend, but it’s possible that he will have to wait until the start of next week.
As such, he remains in doubt for the game against Genoa on Monday evening. It will be up to Conceicao to choose between Abraham and Santiago Gimenez, especially after the latter’s goal off the bench last time out.
