AC Milan are closing in on their fifth signing of the summer as talks over Ajax midfielder Silvano Vos are now quite advanced, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how the new Milan is yet to take shape on the pitch, but on paper it is what the management had designed weeks ago in terms of the signings to address gaps in the squad.

The four additions so far are Emerson Royal, Strahinja Pavlovic, Youssouf Fofana and Alvaro Morata who should all be starters when fit and at 100%, and they all arrived inside the budget that the directors set for each operation.

The fifth arrival

Now, Silvano Vos should become signing number five and he would be an investment that would be perfectly in line with the club’s strategy: identifying talents around Europe and the world, and enhancing their qualities at San Siro.

At 19, Vos already has experience of 17 appearances for Ajax and many more in the club’s youth teams and in the Dutch youth national teams. Why is he leaving? The teenager really didn’t really like the treatment he got last season, when he thought he would play more.

Thus the Amsterdam club – who aren’t doing very well financially either – were convinced by the idea of selling for a pure capital gain and Vos’ agent Pini Zahavi has moved personally to ensure that the next destination is Milan.

The distance between the request and the offer has narrowed day after day, so much so that now all parties are confident of soon arriving at the white smoke for a figure around €6m.

Suitcases packed

With Vos arriving and Fofana being a sure starter, the playing time available to Ismael Bennacer and Yacine Adli is likely to be greatly reduced, something that could force late movement in the mercato.

For Bennacer a sale is an ‘increasingly concrete hypothesis’ and he is looking carefully at the idea of a move to Saudi Arabia, where more than one club has asked for information. He has a €50m clause and Milan could grant a discount, but will not sell him off very cheaply.

Like Bennacer, Adli also has a market in Saudi Arabia where Al-Shabab are watching with interest. Yacine, more than Bennacer, risks being cut out of squad list for Serie A and the Champions League despite having a valuable role in the dressing room.

The idea in Milan’s mind is to collect €50m or a figure close to that from the two sales, which would generate a nice return.
