Santiago Gimenez is a name that has been on AC Milan’s mind for some time now, and it seems the Rossoneri are putting together a bid to land him in the January mercato.
The road to Gimenez in the summer was never finished, despite the heavy interest. So, Milan are now reactivating that interest, hoping to add him to the squad in the next week. However, it will be a difficult task due to the figures.
Difficult does not mean impossible, though.
As Gazzetta dello Sport write this morning (seen below), Strahinja Pavlovic is not going to leave and Emerson Royal is now, almost comedically, injured with a deal close to being completed. So there are no injections of funds arriving at the moment.
However, the deal for Gimenez is still feasible.
Noah Okafor or Samuel Chukwueze could leave, and Luka Jovic’s departure would also assist a move, adding budget while freeing up wages. As the report states, the club ‘needs’ a striker, whether it is Gimenez or not. However, there is an infatuation for the Mexican, and it is seemingly coming from the player, too.
Milan may be able to put together a bid of €30 million in this window, which could be enough to tempt the Dutch club and with another brace in Europe this week, against a European elite like Bayern Munich, the proof is in the pudding. Gimenez is on an upward trajectory, and the Diavolo want to be the benefactors.
