AC Milan delivered a strong performance underneath the floodlights of San Siro on Saturday evening, beating Empoli 3-0. As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport, several players impressed big time, while others could have done better.
After the 0-0 draw against Juventus, and the unconvincing 3-2 win against Slovan Bratislava, Milan needed a strong performance against Empoli and that’s exactly what they got. As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), it was also thanks to individual brilliance.
Tijjani Reijnders was the MOTM, handed an 8/10, after scoring a lovely brace and leading the attacking moves from the start with his creativity. He seemingly knows what to do in every situation, at least on a good day.
Theo Hernandez was named the worst player with a 5/10, only getting forward on a couple of occasions and failing with the set pieces. In what was a relatively easy game for Milan, he still seemed absent.
Paulo Fonseca, meanwhile, was handed a 6.5 as he got the tactical moves right with Yunus Musah to the right. However, he was a bit too flustered with the refereeing, getting himself booked – and nearly sent off – early on after shouting at the referee.
The ratings handed out but Gazzetta dello Sport differed quite a bit from our ratings, which could be worth checking out as well.
