AC Milan did not start their Champions League campaign in the right way at San Siro as they were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool on Tuesday night, and several players have been criticised.

Things were going really well three minutes in when Christian Pulisic hammered in a low shot to give Milan the lead, but Konate and Van Dijk scored headers from set pieces to put Liverpool in front, then Szoboszlai’s second-half goal killed the game off.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with the overall performance from the team which got a 4.5 out of 10, as did Paulo Fonseca’s management.

The best player on the field was the substitute Tammy Abraham who got a 6.5, while Davide Calabria was run ragged at times and he got a 4.5, which makes him the worst performer.

The only other players who got a passing grade were Mike Maignan – who came off injured in the second half after a number of impressive saves – Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic and Lorenzo Torriani. They were all awarded a 6.

Fikayo Tomori was given a 5.5, as were Alvaro Morata and Rafael Leao, while Strahinja Pavlovic, Theo Hernandez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao were scored a 5.
