GdS: ‘Most red cards in last six years’ – Theo’s worrying disciplinary record

Theo Hernandez has often captained AC Milan this season, and even last season. However, he lacks the qualities to do so, and perhaps he has done so for some time.
We can start with the basics. A captain should be the last one running, the one encouraging his side, and someone who his teammates can rely on. Right now, that is far from the definition of Theo, but we could have said this months ago.
Look back to the start of the season for example, the Frenchman made several daft mistakes due to a lack of application, and this makes his actual talent level worthless. Unfortunately, it has been a case of this continuing rather than becoming a memory of the past.
Then we come to the point of reliance, and as Gazzetta dello Sport write, this point cannot be said about the Frenchman, given he has the ‘most red cards in the last six years’.
In recent months, he has been the defender who scored the most goals for Milan, but that narrative has changed, and with it, so has his future.
No player has gotten more red cards in Serie A in the past six years, and only one player has more in Europe (8). Across his career, he has been dismissed nine times, for a range of things; protests, simulation, slaps.
Since February 2020, he has received six red cards, a terrible record, and a reminder that he cannot be relied upon.
The facts pile against him for the future.
