AC Milan will face Juventus for the third time this season tonight at the Allianz Stadium in what is a big clash in the pursuit of the Champions League places.
The two teams played out a very dull and drab 0-0 draw earlier this season at San Siro, but in Sergio Conceicao’s first game in charge it was Milan who celebrated victory in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final earlier in the month.
Juve took the lead through Kenan Yildiz’s powerful shot to cap a rapid counter-attack, before Pulisic equalised from the spot after winning the penalty then Yunus Musah’s cross took a wicked deflection off Federico Gatti for the winner. Thus, the Bianconeri will want revenge.
According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), there should be some changes compared to the team that came from behind to beat Como in midweek.
With Malick Thiaw injured, Matteo Gabbia should start alongside Fikayo Tomori – who is being linked with a move to Juve – in the centre of defence. Emerson Royal and Theo Hernandez complete the rearguard in front of Mike Maignan.
In midfield, Ismael Bennacer and Youssouf Fofana are down as the double pivot with Tijjani Reijnders again being deployed in a more advanced role. Yunus Musah should also start, but on the right with Christian Pulisic out.
The attack is expected to be led by Tammy Abraham with Alvaro Morata out due to suspension. He combined with Rafael Leao for Tuesday’s winner, and the Portuguese should start on the left again.
Predicted Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan, Emerson, Gabbia, Tomori, Theo; Bennacer, Fofana; Musah, Reijnders, Leao; Abraham.
Predicted Juventus XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Cambiaso, Gatti, Kalulu, McKennie; Locatelli, Thuram; Yildiz, Koopmeiners, Mbangula; Gonzalez.
