TSG Hoffenheim and Dennis Geiger have mutually agreed to terminate his contract, which was set to run until next June.
In leaving the Sinsheim club, the 28-year-old will join Dutch first division club NEC Nijmegen after 17 years with Hoffenheim.
Geiger joined Hoffenheim's U-12 team in the summer of 2009, making his Bundesliga debut aged 19 in 2017 against Werder Bremen.
Four days later, Geiger was even in TSG's starting lineup for the UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against Liverpool.
Geiger, who was most recently on loan to Aberdeen, made a total of 147 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim scoring six goals.
“Our communication with Dennis was open and transparent from the start. As a result, we found a good, mutually agreeable solution.
"This gives Dennis the opportunity to continue his career in an exciting environment with international competition.
"He has always conducted himself very professionally and can start in top form with NEC Nijmegen,” said sporting director Andreas Schicker.
