In their search for a replacement for Junya Ito, Genk have landed on Yira Sor and are hoping to sign him from Slavia Prague.
The Belgian club have lost one of their star players this summer with Ito leaving to play in France for Stade Reims, and they’re now looking for someone to replace the Japanese international.
Het Nieuwsblad have reported that they want Sor after being impressed by his performances for Slavia Prague in the past year.
The Nigerian winger joined his current club in January and has caught the eye since, scoring nine goals and getting three assists in 18 matches.
He has been particularly impressive in the UEFA Conference League, in which he got six goals and three assists in six games last year, and scored twice in their qualifier against St Joseph’s this season.
Given those performances and the fact that he only just joined the club, the Belgian publication expects it to be a difficult signing to pull off, with talk that he’d cost as much as €8 million.
