Theo Bongonda is set to leave Genk and sign for La Liga side Cadiz in a €3m deal.
Bongonda has looked likely to leave the Belgian club from the start of the transfer window, telling them that he wants a new challenge after three years there.
At one point he was close to heading to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Ain FC, but that deal ultimately fell through, and while other clubs from that region were interested, it now looks like he’ll remain in Europe.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the forward will return to Spain where he previously spent three years playing for Celta Vigo, joining Cadiz.
The publication have reported that the Spanish side have offered €3m for him, and while that’s only half of what Genk bought him for, they’re set to accept the bid.
He’ll apparently be officially announced in the coming days, perhaps in time for Cadiz’ next La Liga match.
