Former Benfica target Alex Amorim is closing in on a move to Genoa that would represent Alverca’s biggest outgoing if completed.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club will pay €7 million and have a contract until 2030 ready for the Brazilian midfielder.
Genoa moved ahead of other suitors with a late push and already have an agreement with Alverca, pending final confirmation of the transfer.
The number eight joined Alverca from Fortaleza last summer for €310,000. He has also been linked with Sporting, Milan and Bologna. Genoa, 13th in Serie A, are now leading the race.
One factor that may have deterred Benfica is that Alverca hold only 50 percent of his economic rights, with Fortaleza owning the rest, which raises the price to release him.
Valued at €2.5 million, Amorim has been one of Alverca’s standouts this season, logging 1,783 minutes and scoring two goals. He came through Santos’ academy and last year played for Athletic - MG.
