Mike Verweij is reporting that Gent have agreed a deal with NAC Breda for attacking midfielder Aimé Omgba. The 21-year-old, who played in the Dutch second tier and helped NAC Breda win promotion back to the Eredivisie, will cost the Buffaloes around €2.8m, with €300k in bonuses and a 10% sell on fee. Omgba now just needs to pass his medical in Belgium for the transfer to be complete.
The Dutch midfielder, who is also eligible to play for Cameroon, joined NAC Breda from NEC U21 back in the summer of 2021. He had previously been part of the Feyenoord set-up. Since joining NAC, he has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 55 games. Last season was his best of his career to date, with eight goals and seven assists in 32 games across all competitions.
Gent are looking to revamp their squad after losing a number of players for big fees in January. The money is there to be spent and they have clearly identified Omgba as one to bring extra quality to the attacking end of the pitch.
