Dender travel to Gent on Friday night hoping to pick up their first win of the 2025/2026 Belgian Pro League campaign. With seven games in the season gone, the side sit bottom of the table with just two points. they face a Gent side that have only played six games so far, with two wins, two draws and two defeats. Last season, Dender went unbeaten in the two games they faced against Gent, winning the away game last August 2-1. A similar result would be a welcome return for Dender fans and players.

Gent do have some confidence going into the clash, having beaten Antwerp 2-1 last weekend. New signing Michal Skoras had a dream debut with a goal in the first half. Gent fans will be hoping he can continue that form against Dender, while creative midfielder Abdelkahar Kadri is also finding his feet with the Buffaloes. The 25-year-old Algerian has picked up two assists in his last three games. So far this season Gent have scored eight goals in their six games, while conceding a disappointing nine at the other end.

Dender have been the worst team in front of goal by some distance. The side have a measly two goals scored and 10 conceded so far this season. They held out for a long time last weekend against defending champions Union St Gilloise. A late goal from Kevin Rodriguez earned the unbeaten Union a 1-0 win, but did give some confidence to Dender that they are still fighting despite the poor start. new head coach Hayk Milkon will hope that Bruny Nsimba and Mohamed Berte can rediscover their fitness soon to start firing some goals in. Without that, Dender are currently looking at a very long hard season.
