Geoffrey Kondogbia, the former Valencia CF midfielder, will leave Marseille this summer as the club cuts its wage bill, L'Equipe reports.
The club are under DNCG supervision, the French regulator, which has urged them to implement a financial sustainability plan to address their shortfall.
The plan is being led by sports management specialists Franck McCourt and Stéphane Richard. It includes shedding high earners, with Kondogbia and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang among those identified.
Contract termination was explored at first but rejected due to its high cost. The focus is instead on exits that ease the payroll.
Kondogbia has one year left on his deal, until June 2027, and a gross salary of €5.4 million excluding bonuses. Marseille are ready to agree terms with any club prepared to take on his wages.
