Georgia Stanway is reportedly edging closer to joining Arsenal in a free transfer this summer.
While no official announcement has been made, the latest update from the BBC suggests the midfielder has already chosen her next destination as talks progress towards a pre-contract agreement.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with Stanway in recent weeks and confidence around the move appears to be growing.
The update indicates that discussions have moved beyond initial interest, with verbal talks already taking place between the relevant parties.
BBC reporter Emma Sanders stated that Arsenal are awaiting paperwork for a pre-contract agreement and that Stanway has chosen Arsenal.
While a deal does not need to be completed before the end of the WSL transfer window, it’s said that all parties are keen to sort it out soon.
Stanway has chosen Arsenal and that choice has been verbally discussed, which places the club in a strong position ahead of the summer window.
One notable aspect of the update is that the agreement does not need to be signed during the current window. This removes any immediate pressure while still allowing all sides to work towards finalising the move. Despite that flexibility, there is a clear desire from everyone involved to resolve matters as soon as possible.
From Arsenal’s perspective, securing a verbal commitment ahead of the summer allows for forward planning and clarity.
Knowing that Stanway has chosen the club gives them the opportunity to prepare with confidence rather than uncertainty.
A similar deal could be reached for Ona Batlle, with Arsenal in talks to sign the Barcelona full-back.
There could also be some big exits from the club this summer.
Katie McCabe could leave this summer amid reports that she won’t sign a new deal with Arsenal.
For now, the focus remains on completing the necessary paperwork for a pre-contract agreement. Until that is done the move cannot be confirmed but the tone of the update leaves little doubt about where things are heading.
The report suggests that the deal is progressing smoothly and that there are no significant obstacles delaying it. With all parties keen to sort the agreement soon, Arsenal supporters will be watching closely for the next development.
