Georgina Rodriguez has publicly attacked Portugal manager Jorge Jesus after Cristiano Ronaldo left the national team camp, invoking Sir Alex Ferguson in a pointed Instagram post that intensified the fallout between the forward and his coach.
According to Goal.com, Rodriguez shared a graphic featuring the former Manchester United manager, then wrote: "If Jorge Jesus knew in his heart that he had no intention of using him, then why did he call him up in the first place? To make a point? That is not authority, that is insecurity."
She added her own commentary, writing on her Story: "I don’t know how this man can carry the name of Christ (Jesus)." The post was deleted minutes later.
The Ferguson attribution attached to the graphic has not been independently verified. Her decision to share it, add personal criticism, then remove it pushed the dispute into a more personal public arena.
Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, also weighed in, criticising the national media and captioning her message "Tudo dito", meaning everything has been said. Portugal have continued preparations with the 24 remaining players, and Jesus has maintained there is no feud.
He insists he alone makes selection decisions and that the same rules apply to all. Ronaldo has not announced his international retirement, leaving his Portugal future unclear, and fans await a promised statement on his next step.
