Felix Nmecha led Germany to a 2-1 win over Côte d'Ivoire at the 2026 World Cup on Saturday, with Deniz Undav striking twice, including a stoppage-time winner.

Germany had threatened through Havertz at 10 minutes and a Jamal Musiala effort at 18. Côte d'Ivoire struck first on 30 minutes when Yan Diomandé's cross from the left led to Franck Kessié's finish. Bonny was then denied on 45+4, and Kessié went close again on 50.

Germany levelled on 68 when Amiri's cross was turned in by Undav from close range. Odilon Kossounou had been drawn towards the striker and was then beaten by the delivery.

On 90+4, Nmecha slipped a superb pass for Undav to win it, with Ghislain Konan's poor alignment playing the forward onside.

Leroy Sané struggled on the right and was replaced by Leweling on 60 after repeated losses of possession. Musiala endured a quiet outing and made way for Undav on 60. Nathaniel Brown had a difficult night and almost made amends on 89.

At just 20, Trabzonspor midfielder Oulaï impressed with calm and technique, winning 10 of 14 duels. He could be one of the revelations of the tournament's opening phase.
