Germany and Spain qualify for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 | OneFootball

Germany and Spain both came from behind to win and seal qualification for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 with two games to spare.

League A

Group 1 – Italy 1-1 Norway, Finland 1-1 Netherlands

Draws saw Netherlands maintain a two-point lead over Norway at the top, Lineth Beerensteyn again scoring for the Dutch against Finland but this time Jutta Rantala found a leveller for the Finns.

Italy’s Manuela Giugliano netted after just six minutes against Norway, for whom Frida Maanum came off the bench to grab an 81st-minute equaliser.

Group 2 – Belgium 1-1 Czechia, Spain 3-2 Denmark

Denmark let a 2-0 lead slip in Spain despite surviving the conceding of a penalty, before being beaten in added time. Janni Thomsen bagged a brace while Mariona Caldentey missed from the spot for the hosts, substitute Bruna Vilamala and Irene Paredes hitting back in the latter stages before another sub – Lucia Garcia netted the 92nd-minute winner.

Belgium drew with ten-player Czechia who had been in front with a Kamila Dubcova goal. Jassina Blom came off the bench to level on 79 minutes, shortly afterwards the visitors had substitute Elena Peckova sent off.

Group 3 – Sweden 1-0 Republic of Ireland, France 1-2 England

England avenged last week’s loss to France with goals from Georgia Stanway and Alessia Russo, despite Kadidiatou’s second-half penalty, as the Lionesses moved within two points of the French.

Magdelena Eriksson made the breakthrough for Sweden with six minutes to go, similarly cutting the gap on the leaders, whilst relegating Ireland.

Group 4 – Iceland 2-1 Austria, Poland 1-3 Germany

Germany battled back for the second time in a few days to beat Poland, Dominika Grabowska’s opener saw Lea Schuller reply with a second-half brace and Klara Buhl add the third as they moved five points clear at the top.

Iceland edged Austria to go second, Hlín Eiríksdóttir’s opener was replied to by Eileen Campbell’s header but Hildur Antonsdóttir hit the decider.

League B

Group 1 – Azerbaijan 1-0 Türkiye, Hungary 1-0 Switzerland

Emoke Papai’s 73rd-minute goal for Hungary saw then defeat leaders Switzerland, whose Ramona Bachmann missed a penalty in added time.

Azerbaijan got the only goal of the game with Türkiye, to claim their first win.

Group 2 – Israel 0-5 Scotland, Slovakia 0-4 Serbia

Martha Thomas scored the first four goals of the game for Scotland against Israel, Serbia stayed level on points with the Scots after their own away victory. Scotland and Serbia will both get at least a play-off spot, as the leading pair are left to contest first place.

Group 3 – Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-1 Malta, Northern Ireland 1-2 Portugal

Portugal are on the verge on winning the group but had to come from behind to take the points in Northern Ireland.

Maria Farrugia of Lewes gave Malta the lead but Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Milena Nikolic levelled and grabbed a stoppage-time winner.

Group 4 – Croatia 2-0 Kosovo, Ukraine 2-2 Wales

Ivana Rudelic and Ana Maria Markovic got the goals for Croatia against Kosovo, as they took top spot from Wales. The Welsh overturned an setback against Ukraine to lead 2-1, only to concede deep into stoppage time.

League C

Group 1 – Georgia 1-0 Cyprus, Belarus H/W Lithuania

Belarus’s second walkover against Lithuania kept them on maximum points, Georgia saw off Cyprus with an early goal.

Group 2 – Moldova 2-4 North Macedonia, Latvia 0-4 Slovenia

Slovenia’s fourth straight win came with four goals in Latvia, second-placed North Macedonia netted as many away to Moldova.

Group 3 – Andorra 1-5 Montenegro, Faroe Islands 0-2 Greece

Either Montenegro and Greece will be promoted following their away victories, which put them seven points ahead of the rest.

Group 4 – Kazakhstan 4-1 Armenia, Bulgaria 0-3 Romania

Romania’s 3-0 win in Bulgaria leaves them needing a point to take secure spot, Kazakhstan defeated second-placed Armenia 4-1 to get off the mark.

Group 5 – Albania 3-1 Luxembourg

Albania finished their fixtures in the three-team group with a win over Luxembourg, who must take six points from their remaining two games against Estonia to have a chance of pipping the Albanians to promotion.

Remaining group games take place on Friday 12 and Tuesday 16 July 2024.
