Sky Germany reports that Germany assistant coach Sandro Wagner is a candidate for the VfB Stuttgart job if Sebastian Hoeneß leaves.
In recent weeks, there have been increased speculations surrounding the future of Hoeneß amid interest from Manchester United in the summer as well as rumours linking him to the Bayer Leverkusen job if/when Xabi Alonso leaves.
Hoeneß has a release clause worth around €7m which is valid in the summer.
This means that Stuttgart has been forced to begin looking for potential replacements. One is said to be Sandro Wagner, the former striker is currently Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant for the German national team and has been linked with several teams over the past couple of months including Leverkusen as well as former club Hoffenheim. There are also other options on the list.
This would make sense as Wagner recently extended his contract with the German national team until after the 2026 World Cup, with Nagelsmann.
