Yann Bisseck continued his impressive run for Inter Milan with a decisive contribution in the 2-1 Serie A victory away to Genoa.
The German opened the scoring at the Stadio Ferraris and once again underlined his growing importance in Cristian Chivu’s side.
The German defender struck with his left foot to give Inter an early advantage in a match that proved tense and physically demanding until the final whistle.
It was a goal that set the tone for a contest in which the Nerazzurri were forced to dig deep, showing resilience as well as quality to secure all three points.
Speaking to Sky Sport after the match, Bisseck reflected on his goal and the manner of the victory.
“This season I’ve had the chance to shoot with my left foot, it already happened against Liverpool,” he explained.
“Today it worked. I’m very happy, especially because of the win. We suffered a bit, but sometimes you have to win like this.”

He also addressed growing speculation about his chances of earning a place with Germany ahead of the 2026 World Cup, but was quick to shift the focus back to collective objectives.
“I hope so, but I’m not thinking about this,” Bisseck said. “I want to help the team, today it went well. I’m happy.”
Bisseck echoed those sentiments when speaking to DAZN at full time, once again highlighting the difficulty of the task Inter faced in Genoa.
“Not all matches are simple, we knew it would be difficult to play in this stadium,” he said. “We did well, despite the suffering.”
On his growing attacking contribution from defence, the former Köln player was clear about his mindset.
“Finally,” he added with a smile. “I always want to attack and help the team score. The most important thing is that we won.”
His performance was emblematic of Inter’s approach on the night: compact, committed and willing to endure pressure when required.
With injuries forcing adjustments across the back line, Bisseck’s physical presence, composure and willingness to step up in key moments proved invaluable.
As Inter continue to balance domestic ambitions with a congested schedule, Bisseck’s development offers Chivu an increasingly reliable option at the heart of defence.
For now, individual accolades and international ambitions remain secondary.
As the defender himself made clear, the priority is simple: helping Inter win.
