Germany ratings v Greece: Wirtz shines as Klopp side lack bite in 0-0 stalemate | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp’s experimental Germany dominated Greece yet were held to a 0-0 Nations League draw at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki.

According to Goal.com, the visitors controlled proceedings without finding the finish. They had 70.1% possession and completed 640 passes to Greece’s 267. They mustered 21 shots and 45 touches in the box, but hit the target only four times, leaving them third in Group A2.

Waldemar Anton was booked on 36 minutes for a tactical foul. After the interval, Jonathan Burkardt and Lennart Karl made way on 63 minutes for Nick Woltemade and Said El Mala, and Philipp Treu was cautioned on 66.

Mika Baur and Bambase Conte entered on 83 minutes, Baur later creating a chance for Florian Wirtz. Wirtz shot over on 84 minutes, Treu fired just high on 86, Wirtz had a goal-bound effort blocked on 88, Malick Thiaw was booked on 90, then Conte committed a stoppage-time foul.

Wirtz, Germany’s captain and primary threat, earned seven out of 10 while Aleksandar Pavlovic and David Raum also impressed at seven out of 10. Burkardt and Karl each received five out of 10 after muted displays, with Jonas Urbig largely untroubled for his six out of 10.

Klopp’s four-four-two delivered control and intent but little punch against a deep block. His proactive changes could not alter the pattern, leaving a controlled performance that lacked the clinical edge to win it.
