According to BuLi News, Germany have named a 24-player squad for October’s home friendlies against Australia and Japan during the women’s international break. They are already assured of a Women’s World Cup place after topping their qualifying group ahead of Norway.

Christian Wück said the fixtures are precisely the sort of tests his side need to keep developing and take the next steps. More than 20,000 tickets are already sold for Karlsruhe on 9th October at 20:30 CEST against Australia, and Bremen on 13th October at 17:45 CEST against Japan.

Arsenal’s new arrivals Selina Cerci and Lisa Baum are included, with Baum earning a first call after a strong start in the WSL. Bayern pair Giulia Gwinn and Franziska Kett return, along with Wolfsburg’s Cora Zicai, goalkeeper Laura Dick and Athletic Club defender Bibiane Schulze Solano.

With long-serving number one Ann-Katrin Berger absent after discussions with the coaching staff, Bayern’s Ena Mahmutovic is likely to start in goal. Kathrin Hendrich, Rebecca Knaak and Nicole Anyomi miss out through injuries and fitness issues.

The squad also includes Stina Johannes, defenders Camilla Küver, Sophia Kleinherne, Janina Minge, Carlotta Wamser and Marie Müller, midfielders Vivien Endemann, Linda Dallmann, Klara Bühl, Laura Freigang, Elisa Senß, Jule Brand and Sjoeke Nüsken, plus forwards Larissa Mühlhaus, Lea Schüller and Melissa Kössler.
