Julian Nagelsmann, head coach of the German national team, has reaffirmed the Mannschaft’s main goal: to become world champions again in 2026.

After a disappointing Nations League campaign, where Germany finished fourth in the Final Four, the manager faced heavy criticism. But far from letting it get to him, Nagelsmann insists on the need to stay the course:

It's even worse for a team not to have a real target. Our goal is clear: we want to be world champions.

Before facing Slovakia this Thursday in Bratislava, the coach is banking on a step-by-step approach, focusing on each match to rebuild confidence and consistency. In a group that also includes Northern Ireland and Luxembourg, Germany aims to lay the foundations for its project and kick-start a positive run heading into the 2026 World Cup.
