After needing staples on a laceration sustained in Borussia Dortmund’s draw against Hamburg, Nico Schlotterbeck’s inclusion for Germany against Luxembourg on Friday was questionable, but now a decision has been made.
Speaking at Monday’s press conference, Julian Nagelsmann spoke on Schlotterbeck’s injury: “It swelled up quite a bit overnight and, to be honest, his foot doesn’t look too good.”
However, Bild now report that Schlotterbeck will miss the game against Luxembourg, and is also a doubt for Monday’s game against Slovakia.
Because of the 25-year-old’s absence, Dortmund teammate Waldemar Anton is likely to start ahead of Schlotterbeck alongside Jonathan Tah.
Another player that Nagelsmann will be without is Karim Adeyemi, who is serving a suspension after accumulating three yellow cards, suspending him for Friday’s game.
Nadiem Amiri has also withdrawn from the German national team through injury, which has seen a first call-up for RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo.
